Duane Schwartz
A Minnesota author of nostalgic

Tales of the north

If you’re a lover of history, those long gone days of simplicity, adventure, and all things we hold sacred in our memory, even though most of us tend to recall “the good of it”, while forgetting about “the harshness therein”, then I write for you.

If you enjoy stories of love and murder and revenge and pleasure and hardship and all the other commonalities found in life, then I write for you.

If you like characters who feel, men who spit on the ground, women who are not ashamed to please their man and men who are grateful for it, children who both behave and misbehave, then I write for you.

I am Duane Schwartz. My passion is nostalgia. My books are from the heart and from the mind and from the memory and teachings of those who have come before me: my father, my mother, my grandparents of German origin, my grandparents who were French and Indian, my brothers and sisters who traveled this earth longer than me and from whom I have learned.  And much of my writing is from imagination, something I do not fully understand yet truly appreciate. It is my hope that you find value and entertainment in my words, and that you know how much it means to me when you do. And if these things are true, I invite you to leave a brief review to let others know what you have discovered between the covers of my books. Click on the contact form below to leave a review

About the Author

Picture

Duane Schwartz is a Minnesota novelist whose work is both setting inspired and character driven, providing a subtle combination that captures his audience in a way that places the reader in the story rather than in the role of spectator to the theme. He attributes this ability to a long life in business and sales where he has had ample opportunity to study others from all walks of life, an interest in history (nostalgia plays a large part in capturing the attention of his readers, most folks hungry for a fresh look at a simpler day), and the way the past seems to reveal itself to him as he studies old towns, deserted homesteads, farms, resorts, and the like. Schwartz’s goal with regards to his writing is to introduce through his stories, the natural beauty that surrounds him in his native state, and give the world a fresh view of Minnesota’s iron ore country and its fascinating people and their varied histories. Coming soon: So Happy Together

Picture

So happy together tells the story of Jackson Moon, a half-breed Ojibwe who was once accused of killing his white girlfriend from high school days. Many years have passed, Moon still haunted by that event, when a prison break leads local officials to seek his assistance in tracking down an escapee, the very man who had been incarcerated for that long ago murder. What follows is a trail of twists and turns which weave their way through the lives of all involved and end at a conclusion that’s sure to surprise.

A word from Dick Sackett,  Sackett Editing Services:
As good as he's been, Schwartz is at a new level with So Happy Together. It’s exciting, suspenseful, and fun. It's hard to put down, and there are enough turns and twists to keep even the most astute amateur sleuth guessing. From the classic Turtles" tune to its thrilling conclusion, So Happy Together has the feel of a big-time story, and Schwartz has the feel of a big-time writer! Read it. You’ll be happy you did.
